Ministry
What sets The Movement apart from other ministry programs is that we are whole heartily committed to serving the local church and community. Students of The Movement are directly involved in the ministries that are stationed here at the Dream Center. Serving the local church and community will inspire and encourage students and their relationship with Christ because they will constantly be around people whose lives are being changed. Below are just some of the ministries students help with on a weekly basis.
Adopt-a-Block: The Adopt-a-Block program is God's heart expressed through our lives to the community God has given us. It's not only a ministry, but also the foundation that has helped build the Dream Center to what it currently is today. It is the eyes and ears in the community to find the hurts and needs of the people. We have the ability to build ministries that are relevant, effective, and have the potential to be long lasting.
Bus Ministry: Pastor Tommy Barnett says, "The Bus Ministry is not about transportation, it is about soul-winning." Through the Bus Ministry, thousands and thousands of people have been able to come to church when they would have had no other way to do so. Every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday our Dream Center buses pull up into Los Angeles neighborhoods ready to take people to church.
DC Academy: DC Academy is a private, Christian secondary school that provides a safe, drug-free, alternative learning environment for 6th - 12th grade students in Los Angeles wherein students receive a quality, content-driven education that combines high academic and moral standards, individualized instruction and a Biblical worldview.
Family Floor: The newly opened family floor houses 20 families that are struggling to get back on their feet and provides shelter, food, education, job training and childcare.
Food Chapel: Every day the Dream Center opens the doors of its cafeteria to homeless men, women and children. Anyone is able to come into the Food Chapel to hear a powerful message about Christ and then be fed a hot meal free of charge. Over 3,000 hot meals are served at the Dream Center every single day. This ministry is truly making an impact in our community.
Food Truck: The food trucks serve 32 of the poorest areas of the surrounding community and feed over 50,000 people in 10,000 families each month.
Human Trafficking: Project Hope is dedicated to rescuing victims of Human Trafficking, rebuilding their lives and returning hope to them that was taken away. We operate an intake home that will work with these girls and give them a chance to start over.
Reach: Reach is the youth ministry of the Dream Center and Angelus Temple. The director of The Movement, Aaron Bradley, is also the youth pastor at the church so Movement students are heavily involved in the planning and execution of the Tuesday night youth service. Movement students have the amazing opportunity to build mentoring relationships with the youth of the church and community.
The Lord's Gym and Community Center: The Lord's Gym and Community Center offers sports leagues, a fitness center, dance academy, school and cafe and reaches hundreds of neighbors each week.
Under the Bridge: Under the Bridge takes teams to Skid Row to serve 1,500 hot meals every week and minister to the homeless, with many accepting Christ and joining our Dream Center Men's and Women's Discipleship programs.
